Dear Family and Friends,
Well, another year has gone by and I want to take a few moments to share our goings-on over the past year. Most of you know that our biggest news was the arrival of a long-awaited daughter on Sept. 20th. Kelsey Leigh Gwinn came into the world after a 12-hour induced labor, one day past her due date.
Some of you do not know that Kelsey was born with a birth defect known as an omphalocele, a condition in which her intestines and liver formed outside her body during my pregnancy. She was taken to surgery very soon after her birth and came through it quite well. After a 20-day stay in the NICU, Kelsey was allowed to come home, where she has been a typical newborn in all aspects. We're blessed that her health is very good and that she has a pleasant personality. She has her own home page on the Internet at http://www.radio.net/Kelsey
Trey, now 3 ½, loves being a big brother. He's adjusted well and is the first one to play with Kelsey when she wakes up in the morning. Trey has a busy schedule full of daily preschool at SMU, weekly speech therapy, and a Gymboree class that he really enjoys. His ears have been less infected this year after getting a new set of tubes in his ears back in April. Trey has asked Santa for a bicycle this Christmas.
Allen continues working at SMU as Director of Academic Computing in the Business School, as well as doing some consulting work "on the side." His main area of growing expertise lies in the wireless communications industry. Apart from work, Allen enjoys playing with the kids, "surfing" the World Wide Web, and Internet Relay Chat. He and Trey went skiing in Colorado last winter.
I spent the better part of the year in an uneventful pregnancy, a nice switch from my pregnancy with Trey. Most of the time was spent figuring out how to stay out of the Dallas summer heat as much as possible. My activities include handbell ringing, church committee work, and some computer Internet "surfing." I still enjoy my part-time bookkeeping work at McCartney, Inc., even at this very busy time of year (a gift-giving holiday).
Our travels this year took us to Springfield, Ohio in May for my sister Peggy's graduation from Wittenberg University and time spent with my relatives gathered from 6 states. We also went to Tybee Island, Georgia for some fun on the beach with all of the Gwinns over 4th of July weekend.
We've enjoyed our new home immensely this past year and have made some great friendships with our neighbors. We hope your 1997 is as full and wonderful as our 1996 was. Happy Holidays.
With love, Terri, Allen, Trey and Kelsey Gwinn
